Olympia Youth Outreach Committee

Olympia Youth Outreach Committee

Join us as we explore opportunities to bring outdoor experiences to youth through outdoor youth activities and family programs.

With the focus on youth under the age of 14, our Olympia Branch allows youth to learn from highly skilled volunteer educators to bring the deepest and most personalized experience available.

Outdoor skills, Hikes, & activities

Our wilderness adventures are scheduled throughout the year and are led by experience Mountaineers.  The focus is to have fun and engaging activities for kids such as hiking, rock climbing, camping, backpacking, razor clamming,  orienteering, berry picking, boating and more. We also have exciting classes for the family that teach Family Essentials and encourage a connection with the outdoors and participate in several stewardship outreach activities that offer families an opportunity to serve.

Mini Mountaineers

The Mini Mountaineers is a year-round program for toddlers ages 5 and younger. It's an easy way to create a community of families working together to inspire a love for the outdoors . Join your little one on a nature exploration and meet like-minded outdoorsy families!

Explorers is a year-round outdoor program aimed at pre-teen youth and their families.  The group typically goes on 1-2 outings per month and activities include rock-climbing, hiking, back-packing, snow-shoeing, cross-country skiing, kayaking, and camping.  Parents and siblings are welcome to attend outings and even lead outings if they are a certified trip leader!  The kids are not required to have any prior skills or knowledge of the activities - we will teach the skills as we go.

Mountain workshops

This is our outreach program. We partner with youth-serving organizations to provide outdoor experiences that help get kids and families out of doors safely and successfully. Our programs are custom designed to provide experiences that can include hikes and snowshoe outings, outdoor skills and essentials, First aid, Navigation, Leave-No-Trace ethics, and more. We have worked with groups such as Big Brother Big Sister, Girl Scouts, City of Olympia, school classes, and more.
