Olympia MOFA (Mountaineering Oriented First Aid)

Olympia MOFA (Mountaineering Oriented First Aid)

This is a 32 hour Wilderness First Aid Course. Course material includes CPR and AED certification, basic first aid diagnosis and treatment and Seven Steps to Accident Response. Course materials are taught via lecture, skills practice and simulated accident scenarios.

Course

To graduate from the Basic Climbing or Alpine Scrambling courses, mountaineers must also complete the Mountaineering Oriented First Aid (MOFA) Course or a Wilderness First Aid Course (WFA). Our MOFA course combines ASHI CPR/AED, ASHI WFA along with the "Seven Steps to Accident Response" and scenarios.

There are no prerequisites for this course. Graduates will be prepared to serve as a first aid leader for a climbing party of up to 12 on a multi-day outing. Although first aid skills are emphasized, the critical skills in MOFA are scene management, emergency response, and leading a first aid team.
