Beyond Basic Rock

The Beyond Basic Rock course provides classroom and field instruction designed to teach the techniques of safe climbing on rock. It occurs annually between March/April and July. There are four classes at the Cirque Climbing Gym followed by scheduled field trips at Leavenworth, Tieton, Vantage, and Exit 38.
Participants of this course will be introduced to a broad range of techniques and scenarios. Upon successful review of safe, basic climbing techniques, students will be guided through the following topics: climbing techniques (crack climbing, slab climbing, off-width, etc.); anchor set-up and cleaning; leading sport routes; introduction to trad climbing; and SERENE anchors.  Field trip locations include Tieton, Vantage, Exit 38, and Leavenworth, although they could change. Visit the course listing when available to view field trip details.
