Please note, some designated Wilderness Areas within the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest are subject to additional regulations, so these trips may require advance planning, particularly for overnight trips. Refer to the forest's Wilderness page for a list of these areas and specific information associated with them.

Wenatchee River Ranger District (Leavenworth)

All course-related climbing trips in Leavenworth must fall under our 500 service days allocated in our Priority Use Permit. Course field trips other than climbing are not authorized in the Wenatchee River Ranger District at this time.

USFS PRIORITY USE PERMIT WITH AMENDMENTS

Climbing and Scrambling Committees work together with staff annually to prioritize dates and branches for this. Learn more about our Internal Climbing and Scrambling Lottery.

Cle Elum Ranger District

All course field trips to the Cle Elum Ranger District fall under our Priority Use Permit. Staff submits the permit application and reports our organization's usage annually. Please contact staff at info@mountaineers.org if you are planning a new course in the Cle Elum Ranger District, or if you plan to significantly increase the size of a course or field trip you have offered in the past. This may require Mountaineers staff to submit additional information to the Cle Elum Ranger District in order to adjust our permit. Please review the permit document and amendments linked below for an overview of the activities and locations allowed under our permit.

USFS PRIORITY USE PERMIT WITH AMENDMENTS

The Cle Elum Ranger District has authorized specific locations for backpacking field trips. Please review the details for authorized locations before scheduling your field trip.
