City of Anacortes - Mt. Erie

This area has a maximum group size 50 people (including instructors). Committees are responsible for registering Mountaineers groups with the City of Anacortes when trips are scheduled, at least 30 days in advance of your trip. This includes all instructional rock climbing and scrambling groups, and both fee-based and free activities and field trips. This route/place is part of the Internal Climbing and Scrambling Lottery process for course-related field trips. Note that a message from Anacortes Parks & Recreation confirming your date(s) does not reserve the site for your exclusive use, as there will likely be other recreational climbers on the mountain at that time. They ask that all groups do their best to share the mountain. Contact information for Anacortes Parks & Recreation can be found on their website.

Rules:

  • No more than 50 people per group per day (this includes instructors).
  • Please carpool when driving to the summit to allow for other users.
  • Please inform your climbers of  the port-a-potty at the summit (usually March – October).
  • Please pack out all the trash that you bring in. If you can haul out extra trash you may find, that is a great service to the park.

Below are links to the Mt. Erie permitting calendar. Use the iCal feed to get calendar alerts.

Double check your application details against th3 Ouray Ice Park Permit Checklist. Note that the full instructor roster must be included in the application.
