MAP OF MT. BAKER-SNOQUALMIE NATIONAL FOREST RANGER DISTRICTS

Official USFS Website - Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest

Please note, some designated Wilderness Areas within the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest are subject to additional regulations, so these trips may require advance planning, particularly for overnight trips. Refer to the forest's Wilderness page for a list of these areas and specific information associated with them.

Mt. Baker Ranger District

All course field trips to Mt. Baker are now under permit. Staff submits the permit application and reports our organization's usage annually. Please contact staff at info@mountaineers.org if you are planning a new course in the Mt. Baker Ranger District, or if you plan to significantly increase the size of a course or field trip you have offered in the past. This may require Mountaineers staff to submit additional information to the Mt. Baker Ranger District in order to adjust our permit.

Two areas within the Mt. Baker Ranger District (Coleman Seracs and the Mt Baker National Recreation Area, including Easton Glacier and Squak Glacier) are included in our Internal Climbing and Scrambling Lottery for course-related field trips. For more about the Internal Lottery, please click here.

Below are links to the Coleman Seracs permitting calendar. Use the iCal feed to get calendar alerts.

Leaders should carry a copy of our nominal effects letter with them during their activity in the Snoqualmie Ranger District, whether the activity is a course field trip or a stand-alone trip. This may be done electronically - please save a copy of this document to your phone.
