Alpine Scrambling fills the gap between on-trail hiking and roped climbing. The Alpine Scrambling course teaches the skills needed to venture off-trail on snow and rock to reach non-technical alpine summits. Scrambling may at times involve unroped movement on and across low or moderately-exposed snow and rock terrain, but does not include roped climbing.

Application Required:

An application is required in order to register for this course. The Application will go live November 1st. You can review the content in the course materials as a PDF (do NOT submit the PDF). Permission requests to register prior to this date will be ignored. Upon successful completion of the application, you will be given permission to register for the course.

COVID-19

The Foothills Scrambling Course require frequent in-person training. All students and instructors must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by the beginning of the course. If you are accepted into the course, you will be asked to provide your state-issued vaccination card prior to being allowed to register. Additionally, all participants (instructors and students) will be required to keep up to date with current public head guidelines vs-a-vis COVID vaccines and boosters, exposure for quarantine, etc from the Mountaineers, King County, State of Washington, and Center for Disease Control.
