Alpine Scrambling Course

Alpine Scrambling Course - Olympia

The Alpine Scrambling course teaches essential techniques of off-trail wilderness travel needed for scaling snow and rock summits. Alpine scrambling may at times involve unroped movement on and across low or moderately-exposed snow and rock terrain, but does not include roped climbing on high-angle, seriously-exposed technical rock faces, nor does it involve roped travel on glacier terrain.

The Wilderness Skills course is a pre-requisite.  Alpine Scrambling students will need to attend the Wilderness Skills course in January, prior to the first Alpine Scrambling lecture.

Mountain Oriented First Aid (MOFA) and Navigation are required to graduate.  These can be taken concurrent with Alpine Scrambling.

Alpine Scrambling students are also required to perform a full day of stewardship to graduate from the course.

Mountaineers Freedom of the Hills  9th edition is required reading. Please do not purchase this until you make contact with me. If we order in bulk, we can get a greater discount.

We recommend that you not purchase your mountaineering equipment until after the 1st classroom session.
