The Foothills Branch of The Mountaineers is calling on outdoor recreation lovers and community builders to help us grow our vibrant network of volunteers. Whether you're a seasoned hiker, a behind-the-scenes organizer, or someone who simply loves sharing the joy of outdoor exploration, there's a place for you here. Volunteering with the Foothills Branch means connecting with like-minded adventurers, supporting inclusive outdoor education, and helping others discover the transformative power of nature. Most of the volunteer opportunities don't require special skills or experience. We're just looking for your energy and enthusiasm!

Foothills Backpacking Committee Chair

The Foothills Backpacking Chair plays an essential role in supporting and advocating for the community of backpacking leaders. The Chair communicates club-wide expectations and new initiatives. Through action and communication, the Chair fosters a culture of belonging, community, and education. In addition, the Chair oversees a small budget, monitors expenses, and actively recruits and supports new leaders with the goal of leader retention and growth. The Treasurer supports the committee in coordinating the annual budget process and mid-flight updates, approves expense reimbursements for committee volunteers, and represents the interests of the committee with branch leadership, finance committee, and Mountaineers staff - including development of course pricing guidance. ·

The Navigation Committee organizes and delivers clinics and courses to help outdoor enthusiasts gain the skills and confidence to navigate on or off trails in the backcountry. Annual Branch Celebration Planner - email Lori Heath. Want to help plan a fun and rewarding event? We're looking for additional members to help plan the Foothills Branch Annual Celebration later in the year (most likely on a Sunday evening in November or January). During the celebration, we will recognize our Branch's amazing leaders. Committee members will participate in three to five Zoom calls, help acquire supplies prior to the event, and support during the event. ·

Foothills First Aid Chair

The First Aid Chair oversees first aid programs and training for the Foothill Branch and collaborates with branch activity chairs to maintain a safe and informed environment for all branch activities, particularly those in the backcountry.
