On Saturday December 3rd, The Mountaineers will hold a one-day conference on leadership skill development with engaging and dynamic speakers that will help you enhance your own leadership abilities within our programs (and the outdoor industry at large). You'll have the opportunity to hear presentations on issues such as:

  • What teaching skills work well in outdoor education?
  • What are common scenarios in the outdoors that have caused other people trouble (and how can I avoid them)?
  • What group leadership skills can improve the group dynamics on a trip (especially if something goes wrong)?
  • Legal issues that might affect my work as an outdoor skills instructor or activity leader.
  • Current trends and issues affecting outdoor recreation.

And much, much more! Just like the last two years, there will be a light breakfast, lunch, and hors d'oeuvres with beer/wine at the end of the day!

Stay tuned while we develop the schedule of events and recruit speakers!
