MOFA

Mountaineering Oriented First Aid (with integrated Wilderness First Aid)- Olympia. This is a 32 hour course consisting of 8 hours of WFA self study, 8 hours of WFA hands on, and 16 hours of extended scenarios, scene management considerations and 7 Steps training. First offering to Olympia Basic Climbing and Alpine Scrambling students. Olympia Leaders with 2 or more trip leads in the last 12 months can receive a special discount.

MOFA/WFA is an advanced 32 hour course incorporating wilderness first aid skills with essential safety and first aid skills for those who enjoy climbing, hiking, and other wilderness activities. Graduates will receive both a MOFA and a WFA badge.  This class satisfies requirements for Basic Climbing, Alpine Scrambling and Leadership courses. The MOFA certificate is good for three years/WFA for 2.   MOFA builds prevention and basic first aid skills using the Seven Steps to help you effectively respond to trail emergencies with the gear you carry. Hands-on outdoor practice with your gear is a key part of the class. You'll respond to scenarios based on actual mountaineering incidents and instructor experiences. Outdoor practice happens rain or shine, so be ready with clothes and a pack ready for a day on the trail. Include extra clothing, trekking poles, your current first aid kit and the rest of your 10 Essentials. Come prepared to have fun and be challenged while learning MOFA/WFA
