On this day-long field trip, you will practice and apply the skills taught at the earlier field trips as part of a real live scramble trip up to a non-technical alpine summit. There will be both snow (hopefully) and rock to practice your snow travel, self-arrest, glissading, rock scrambling, and navigation skills.
We will take the NW Bowl/Ridge approach to Silver Peak, which is almost entirely off-trail and is a perfect introduction to a classic scramble setting. This will be a great opportunity to navigate the route in addition to putting all your scramble skills to the test!
