Winter Trail Running Conditioning Course runs from 5-7 miles. You will need to complete 2 course runs per month over Dec, Jan and Feb to graduate.

We will follow a counter-clockwise loop for ~5.25 miles total distance with 312 ft elevation gain, following Shore Loop Road until the North Beach trailhead. Pace will be 10-12 min/miles. We will then connect to a few of the inner park trails, then follow another partial loop. Please bring a headlamp, since we will be starting in the dark!
Meet in front of the Seward Park Audobon Center (5902 Lake Washington Blvd South) in Seattle at 6:30am, ready to run. No passes required. Bathroom available by Audubon Center and along beach trail to the north.
Directions: From downtown Seattle, take I-90 east and get off at exit 3 for Rainier Avenue South. Turn right onto Rainier Avenue South and continue on this road for approximately 3 miles. Then, turn left onto South Orcas Street which will take you directly to the park. The Audobon Center is at the park entrance.
Required Equipment
Please wear layers of breathable, technical clothing suitable for outdoor aerobic activities for this course's activities.
- Waterproof jacket, hat, buff, gloves, sunglasses; running-specific gaiters recommended
- Warm mid-weight layer (e.g. down vest or wool long sleeve)
- Trail running shoes
- A small day pack suitable for trail running
- Bring snacks and water
- Trail running-adapted ten essentials
- Headlamp(e) with spare batteries
