Winter Trail Running Conditioning Series

Don’t let the dark winter months and rain get you down! Join us for progressive trail runs in December, January, and February. Explore new local trails and connect with other runners along the way.

This course aims to help participants develop their fitness and connect with other trail runners during the winter months. It is structured as a series of progressive frontcountry runs that will slightly increase in distance and/or elevation from Jan to Feb to Mar. 

Whether you are new to trail running or  an experienced runner, we invite you to join us to get out more in a friendly, group environment while challenging yourself, discovering new trails, and meeting other runners.

Graduation Requirements

  • Attend virtual or in-person course kick-off
  • Complete 2 course runs per month for Dec, Jan and Feb
  • Complete Low-Impact Recreation training and earn Low-Impact Recreation badge

Course Agenda

  • Virtual or In-Person Course Kick-off: Nov weekday evening
  • Dec: 4-6 miles with up to 2,000 ft elevation gain (complete 2)
  • Jan: 5-7 miles with up to 3,000 ft elevation gain (complete 2)
  • Feb: 6+ miles with up to 4,000 ft elevation gain (complete 2)
  • Mar: In-person graduation get-together (optional)

  • Trail running shoes
  • A small day pack suitable for trail running

  • Optional: poles, running micro-spikes, and running-specific gaiters
