Old Basic Trail Maintenance Class - Lord Hill Regional Park

Trail Stewardship hands on one day class learning safety, tools, tool handling, componets of a trail and an overview of trail maintenance.

  • For Beginners (Getting Started Series)

Participants will learn: Saftey on a trail maintenance work party, types of tools used, types of maintenance needed. Correct tool for the job.

The day will include: standing or  sitting on the ground for breaks and discussing techniques, for short periods of time. Hiking around 1-3 miles, kneeling, lifting, pulling, pushing, digging, chopping and learning.  

Goal of the day: To have a better understanding of trails and why maintenance is important. Learn and use techniques used to maintain a trail.

 Expectations of Leaders: To teach and/or instruct in a safe manner the basics of trail maintenance.

Expectations of Participants: show up on time, be aware of saftey issues, have all the gear required, be prepared for what the day will include.

A stewardship work party purpose is to be Be safe, Have fun, Get some work done.

Meeting Place: Lord Hill Regional Park; Snohomish County

12921 150th Street SE; Snohomish WA. 98290 Parking lot.

Time: 9:00 AM

Finishing time around 3 PM

Long sleeve work shirt, long pants, sturdy boots and gaiters, gardening type work gloves, eye protection.

Essentials as for any trip into the back country.(maps will be supplied)

Extra colths for the work day and after the day.
