Help us engage more young people to protect what you love, by contributing to The Mountaineers today!

You cherish the grace, power and beauty of our land. But it’s in danger.

Our beloved national parks, including sections of the North Cascades, Mt. Rainier and Olympic, are now at risk of development, because last month, the Land and Water Conservation Fund, which was designed to protect iconic places like this, was allowed to expire.

To head off the persistent threats to our wild places, we’ll need younger people to participate in our collective action.

Young people will protect our wild places, but they need to be inspired first.

That begins with a connection – between people and landscapes. With your help, The Mountaineers can make that connection.

“From the trailhead to the peak of Sahale, I doubted myself and my abilities. The reality that what we were doing was real and risky was magnified as I scrambled on the peak, leaning forward to keep my balance, hunched over making big moves, and using a hand-line for protection.”

"And all the while, I thought ‘I am by myself. It’s just me and Sahale.’”

“While standing on the peak, I felt a deep sense of  gratitude for Sahale. That Mountaineers trip boosted my confidence for the rest of the year. I owe this to Sahale.”

“In return for that gift, I promise to be that mountain’s voice and to protect Sahale and places like it so everyone can have their own Sahale memory.” – Sarah, 18-year old member

Sarah has become one of the natural world’s fierce protectors because of her personal experience in wilderness. But to remain relevant in a rapidly changing world, we need to be ready to launch new initiatives, engage new generations, and seize opportunities.

The only way to be that responsive is through private support from passionate individuals like you.

Your Mountaineers community is uniquely positioned to shape and expand the modern conservation movement because of the power of our relationship to the land and each other.

When you support The Mountaineers this year you will:

  • Equip volunteers with powerful training and resources to mentor and inspire people to love the outdoors
  • Create outdoor experiences for underserved youth who’ve never truly experienced nature
  • Share tools with people who want to amplify our conservation message to protect our wild places
  • Publish books to inspire young people to get outside and connect with wilderness

You’ve seen what we can do with your help. We need your support to do it again.

We’re galvanizing a new generation that values the outdoors and cares to protect it. We know we can do this. We can’t do it without you!

Your gift of $100, $500 or $1,000 will help mobilize a new generation of fierce protectors.

Thank you for investing your energy and resources in our treasured wild places.
