Open Positions
Branch Chair-Elect: This is a three-year commitment where the first year is dedicated to training and building relationships, then transitions into Branch Chair for the following two years.
Branch Secretary: The Secretary serves a two-year term, handling meeting agendas and minutes, and working closely with Mountaineers staff around branch elections and communications. The Branch is looking for someone to shadow the current Secretary through September 30, 2026, and assume office on October 1, 2026.
Board of Directors Representative: The Representative is a Mountaineers organizational Board Member who brings the Foothills Branch’s interests to the larger Mountaineers Board, and conveys major organizational initiatives back to the branch.
Backpacking Committee Chair: This position oversees the backpacking leaders community, helps recruit new leaders, manages a small budget, and supports leader retention and growth.
First Aid Chair: This position oversees first aid programming and training for the branch, and collaborates with activity Chairs to maintain safe and informed outdoor programs.
Events Chair: This position helps plan and promote special social events like branch picnics and gatherings - a great role if you like organizing and bringing people together.
Hiking/Backpacking/Urban Walk Committee Treasurer: This position manages the annual budget for the committee, approves volunteer expense reimbursements, and liaises with branch leadership on financial matters.
Communications Committee Member: This position works on the branch’s newsletter, website updates, blog/magazine content, and social media content. The role is perfect for someone who loves writing or staying on top of digital platforms.
Navigation Committee Member: This position helps organize navigation clinics and courses for hikers/backpackers, and contributes to developing teaching/training materials around off-trail and backcountry navigation.
Annual Branch Celebration Planner: This position will join a small team to help plan the branch’s year-end celebration - ideal for someone who enjoys event logistics and celebration planning.
