At The Mountaineers, we believe everyone should be able to access great stories. That's why we are thrilled to launch The Mountaineers Dispatcha pilot project that brings our written content to life through audio. Audio tracks will allow members and readers to engage with our content in new ways, so whether you’re commuting, recreating outdoors, managing screen fatigue, or relying on audio formats for accessibility, you can now listen to Mountaineers stories wherever you are.

We created three playlists, each featuring a unique selection of Mountaineers stories.

Playlist details

Mountaineers Ascent playlist coverThe Mountaineers Ascent playlist. Enjoy stories that share the lives, lore, and legends of The Mountaineers community from 1906 to now.

Our first track from longtime Mountaineer member Ed Boulton recalls a harrowing climb of Mount Rainier via the Willis Wall in 1971, one that almost turned into his last.

Mountaineer Magazine Cover

Mountaineer Magazine playlist. Didn’t have time to read the latest issue of Mountaineer? Now, you can listen to it! In this playlist, delight in the smiles shared among friends amid inclement weather, cozy up in the welcoming atmosphere of our lodges, find confidence through learning spaces that encourage us to show up authentically, and more.

While you can now listen to most of the articles, we still encourage you to check out the print or digital magazine to enjoy amazing photographs from our community and read excerpts from Mountaineers Books titles.

Adventure with Purpose playlist coverAdventure with Purpose playlist. This collection of stories and voices is dedicated to exploring, conserving, and learning about the lands and waters of the Pacific Northwest and beyond.

Get started with The Mountaineers Conservation History track, part of our Conservation 101 series! Listeners will journey through 120 years of our conservation work and learn how they can be a part of the story.

LISTEN NOW

This is a pilot audio project made possible through automated voice generation. As you listen, please keep in mind that there may be occasional imperfections in cadence and pronunciation. The content remains entirely original—written by our contributors.

What would you like to listen to next?

We will continually add more audio tracks over time as we learn what stories resonate with our community. Please consider sharing your ideas to help shape what comes next. Would you enjoy more conservation stories, trip reports, stories from our community, or something else? Or maybe you have a story of your own you would like to share with our listeners! Let us know in the comments or by emailing your ideas to communications@mountaineers.org

We hope The Mountaineers Dispatch makes it easier than ever to stay connected to the stories, people, and places that inspire our community. Make sure to follow us on Soundcloud, so you never miss a new story!
