2018 Leadership Conference - It’s a Wrap!

The Mountaineers hosted our fifth annual Leadership Conference on Saturday, December 1 at the Seattle Program Center. It was an outstanding day of leadership development for our volunteer community - thank you to everyone joined us!

This year's Leadership Conference continued to grow! Throughout the day, we saw:

  • 358 Total Attendees
  • 16 Breakout Sessions, facilitated by 26 Presenters
  • A new Lunchtime Exhibit Hall, featuring 9 Exhibitors
  • 27 Support Volunteers

It is inspiring to see so many members of our community gather under one roof to learn and grow together!

The presentations at the 2018 Leadership Conference were organized into four tracks:

  • Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion
  • Risk Management
  • Education & Instruction
  • Group Facilitation & Mentorship

Many of our presenters have generously shared their slide decks and/or presentation materials. We will continue to add presentations as we receive them!

Additionally, we’re excited to share full-length video recording of five of this year’s presentations, including the Keynote Presentation from David Moskowitz!

Ben Brown, Nellie Suthers, Joe Harper Kowalczyk, and Michelle Harper Kowalczyk will be presenting a follow-up to their presentation "The Big 3: Planning For, Assessing, and Implementing Effective Instruction" on Monday, February 11 at the Tacoma Program Center. Register today!

Each year, we compile and review all of our attendees’ feedback to continue improving this event. Here's a snapshot of the highlights!

  • "Overall exceeded expectations. Networking was great. Great mix of experienced leaders and upcoming. Love the track setup.”
  • “It is a testament to The Mountaineers that so many people show up to this conference. Our volunteer leaders are dedicated to the organization, creating opportunity for people and improving themselves.”
  • “I found the diversity track the most compelling for me and think it’s critical for The Mountaineers. This year’s sessions show important growth for the org. Keep it up.”
