We’ll be working at the Foothills Navigation Field Trip site, focusing on pulling tree sprouts from the roadbed and pruning back branches and blackberry vines. No experience is necessary—we’ll go over what to do and how to do it before we get started.
Expect to get dirty! Please wear appropriate clothing. We’ll be working with blackberry vines, sticker bushes, and up inside trees, trudging up and down steep, bushy slopes. Sturdy gloves, boots, and durable clothing are a must. Bring a daypack, but you will not be wearing it while we work.
We have a limited supply of gloves and hand tools, so if you have gardening gloves or prefer to use your own, please bring them. Safety glasses are recommended.
Please bring a water bottle, snacks, and lunch to keep you fueled throughout the day. Extra clothing layers and rain gear are also a good idea—be prepared for changing weather conditions.
An email will be sent in advance of the activity with weather predictions, driving instructions and any last-minute details that would be handy to know.
As this is a full-day stewardship activity, participants will receive the Stewardship Credit badge.
