Climbing Conditioner - West Tiger Mountain No. 3 Cable Line
Cable line is one of the best trails in the I-90 corridor. It is a shorter drive, it is short, it is steep, and it has epic views of the city and Tahoma/Mount Rainier. I rest my case.

We will go up via the Cable line trail and we will come down via West Tiger #3 trail. This will be a relaxed zone 2/aerobic hike and aim is to summit in around 1:10ish minutes. If you know your baseline and know you can summit faster, consider carrying additional conditioning weight. If you don't know your baseline, think going light with only the essentials.
Meet at 8 AM at the TH, rain or shine.
Happy to chat about aerobic training during the hike. Ideally, you should be increasing the duration/distance/elevation/resitance(backpack weight) of your hike periodically to get stronger. Whitney Rhodes is leading a series of a well designed climbing conditioners, the Slogfest, incorporating these training principles. They have put up very well thought out notes and reference articles on training in their Slogfest activity pages. Consider joining Slogfest hikes, or following along for inspiration.
Most, if not all, the climb/scramble leaders will have experience/thoughts on training principles, so I'd recommend chatting with a few folks to get opinions/ideas on training. I personally (loosely) follow the Training for Uphill Athlete since I have been introduced to the book by Bill Pappas, a walking talking training manual and inspiration.
I will be mostly sticking with quick week day hikes on Cable line. Shoot me an email if you have any questions.
