Conservation Policy & Advocacy Update: Defending our Roadless Forests

Join our conservation team virtually Wednesday, April 22 to hear the latest policy updates on the administration's rollback of Roadless protections for 2 million acres of backcountry national forests in Washington. We’ll also share about our advocacy with partners on behalf of our community and the top actions you can take to defend the Roadless Rule.

The Roadless Rule protects some of your favorite backcountry forests and is at risk of being repealed. Last fall, the administration began a process to roll back the Roadless Rule and open up 58 million acres of national forests to increased logging and development. Our next opportunity to defend our backcountry forests is almost here – we anticipate the opportunity to provide public comment on the draft rollback plan in the next month.

Join us online the afternoon of April 22 to learn more about this threat to old-growth forests and backcountry recreation and how you can speak up to defend the Roadless Rule.

Roadless Areas support Mountaineers programs and other backcountry recreation trips on forest lands around Baker Lake, Washington Pass, the Mountain Loop Highway, the Teanaway region, and on the Olympic Peninsula. Come learn more, ask questions of conservation staff who are deeply engaged in advocacy to defend Roadless protections, and find out how to take action.

RSVP to attend our 60-minute virtual event using this page. All registrants will receive a Zoom meeting link to join on the day of the event.
