Confluence: Moving Between BIPOC and White Spaces - Online Classroom

Discuss themes of internalized racism/classism, code-switching, and horizontal oppression with Bam Mendiola in this Leadership Development Series seminar.

  • Casual

This workshop is for anyone that has experienced shame, guilt, and confusion as they move between BIPOC and white spaces. We will discuss themes of internalized racism/classism, code-switching, and horizontal oppression. We will also discuss ways to navigate these spaces in a way that honors the messy and magical ways in which we show up.

Audience: This seminar is intended for BIPOC folks. Affinity spaces are offered to provide safe spaces for folks with shared backgrounds and experiences to learn, connect, and support each other. While allies are appreciated, these spaces are not intended for allies. Learn more about the importance of affinity spaces here.

Registration Notes

This space is intended for individuals who identify as BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, or People of Color), in order to center and support experiences that are often marginalized. We ask attendees to self-identify accordingly when registering for this seminar. Please feel free to email viennac@mountaineers.org if you have any questions about this or would like to be referred to similar seminars and resources geared toward allies.
