Tacoma Program Center Net Zero Open House

Reopening Celebration for Tacoma Mountaineers
COVID-19: Learn about our most up-to-date guidance for participants and leaders on our COVID-19 Response page. All participants and leaders must agree to the COVID-19 Code of Conduct before participating in this Mountaineers event.

Are you ready for a local gathering that does not involve Zoom? Would you like to Meet The Mountaineers in real life again? We would love to see you! Join us on Saturday, June 26, at the Tacoma Program Center (TPC) to kick off the summer. After our long hiatus, our doors will be open to Tacoma Branch members of all ages from 1 - 4 p.m. Stop by after your day hike and tell us about it in person!

During this casual Re-Open House, visitors are invited to:

Hear from Mountaineers CEO Tom Vogl. Tom will make a short presentation about the State of the Mountaineers at 3:00 pm, and will be present to help us welcome back our Tacoma members.

  • Meet your fellow Mountaineers! Whether you’re a backpacker, climber, skier, sailor, kayaker, or all of the above, trip leaders and volunteers will be on hand to talk about your favorite activities.
  • Enjoy refreshments (safely). Light and covid-friendly snacks will keep you hydrated and energized while you reconnect with fellow members. Complimentary beer and wine will be available for those 21 and older.
  • Tour the TPC and discover our Vision 2022 strategic plan. Bask in our energy-efficient LED lighting, installed in 2020, and hear about our plans to upgrade the TPC with electric heat pumps and a solar roof system.
  • Learn about the Evergreen Options Program. When customers of Tacoma Public Utilities choose Evergreen Options, they offset their home carbon use and invest in regional renewables. Your participation can help The Mountaineers secure a grant to install a PV solar system on the roof in the year ahead!
  • Pledge your support and get your own small piece of the TPC. To help fund the TPC’s planned carbon footprint reduction innovations, we are inviting members to make a gift.

Options for giving will include purchasing a custom engraved paver that will be displayed along with other Mountaineers pavers from years past.

We look forward to getting together safely and planning our next adventures. Show up anytime during this three-hour session to engage with friends and to get involved in our community.
