Tacoma Mountaineers Branch Orientation Open House and Climbing Liberty Ridge via the Grand Canyon – A retrospective of exploration and discovery by Marty Babare.

7 pm – Come see our great orientation show of the programs and courses offered by the Tacoma Mountaineers. We welcome new members, prospects and friends. Bring the family to see what we do including climbing and scrambling, sea kayaking, skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, social & family activities, first aid, sailing, navigation, avalanche training, and more. This will be a chance to visit with committee people in activities of interest to you.

7:45 pm – Join the Tacoma Mountaineers and Marty Babare for his talk Climbing Liberty Ridge via the Grand Canyon, chronicling one year out of a lifetime of meaningful engagement with life’s challenges and rewards, culminating with achieving the summit of Mt. Rainier via the classic Liberty Ridge route on his 60^th birthday.  Marty is well-known in the Mountaineers, and his retrospective is sure to resonate with many as they navigate the calculus of life’s risks and rewards.  As a bonus, the evening’s emcee will be another well-known Tacoma Mountaineer - Bill Hecker, who was a team-member with Marty on the Liberty Ridge ascent.
