Kayak Enhancements Part 1 of 2 - Online Classroom

Part 1 of 2. You have that snazzy new kayak, but what enhancement might you want to make to it? a) let’s get rid of the “deck furniture” and mount your pump under the cockpit deck. b) let’s make a great emergency skeg deployment string that won’t catch or wear out. c) a paddle park for a Greenland paddle; d) let’s tune up those perimeter lines to improve ergonomics. e) how to make a place to write on your boat with a grease pencil; . f) mount a compass on your deck; g) identify your kayak.

  • Easy, Easy
  • Easy
  • We’ll go over

    • Various configurations for mounting a pump inside your cockpit.
    • You want a way for a helper to pull down on a stuck skeg. I’ll show you a single-line technique that fits within the width of the skeg and results in minimum drag; plus how to mark its location
    • How to make a paddle park for those with a Greenland paddle
    • How to improve your perimeter lines- they come too tight with insufficient space for using for rescues. We can solve this partly if we skip one of the deck fittings. But we can also add sleek tubing to make it easier to grab.
    • Mounting a compass on a kayak with a compass indentation
    • Writing on your boat with a grease pencil (notes, tides, currents, etc) directly can be impossible to remove on a plastic boat. We’ll show you how to make a “writing tablet”.
    • Getting your name and phone number on the kayak, and why
