Southeast Alaska is a place filled with natural wonder and beauty of thick old-growth stands of the Tongass National Forest below snow-tipped peaks. Join us to get inspired by this special place and be the first in Seattle to see SEACC's new film, Irreparable Harm about Hawk Inlet on Admiralty Island and the Tlingit community of Angoon. Angoon has been sustained by food gathered from the sea for thousands of years. Just thirty miles north of Angoon is the Greens Creek Mine, one of the largest silver producing mine in the world, and the only one to operate in a national monument. Learn about the research that SEACC, Alaska Native groups, and other conservation groups are doing to investigate the potential harm to the inlet, marine life, and Angoon.
After the film, SEACC's Executive Director Meredith Trainor will talk about the issue of mining in Southeast Alaska and how you can get involved.
