CANCELED - PNW Edible Wild Plants

CANCELED - PNW Edible Wild Plants

An introductory workshop designed to foster an appreciation of the vast range of edible plants in the PNW back-country and in our own backyards!
40 ( 40 capacity)

PNW Edible Wild Plants Workshop is designed for people who have an interest in PNW wild plants and want to start learning which are edible.     We will take a broad view, looking at  plant families & genera, as well as, a few interesting individual plants.   Including: ferns, trees, shrubs, herbs, lichen and seaweeds.  We will explore edible plant parts -- leaves, roots, berries, seeds, flowers, sap, buds, etc..  and, look at deadly poisonous plants and discuss warnings.

Medicinal or cultural uses of plants and mushrooms will not be discussed.  We discourage collecting, we do not want to degrade our wonderful environment.

Our primary goal is to foster exploration, discovery & a sense of delightful engagement with these plants.

Students may register for a related field trip to Westberg Trail shortly after this workshop. Two more field trips will be offered later in the season.   I will email students before the trip is placed on the mountaineer's website so you can watch for it.
