Thanksgiving Canyon Practice Session

Thanksgiving Canyon Practice Session

Come practice your technical canyoning skills, meet new people, and win prizes at this Thanksgiving themed practice session.
17 ( 33 capacity)

Come join us at the Mountaineers for our first Thanksgiving-themed practice session for canyoning course graduates, and our first practice session since Covid! We will have pre-rigged stations set up for practicing specific skills, as well as areas where attendees can practice skills of their choosing.  We'll also raffling off a VT Prusik (Bluewater brand) and you get to hang out with awesome people!

Location: Mountaineers - Goodman B/C

Time: 12pm - 4:30PM

Covid Guidelines: We are allowed to have 11 people per group (including hosts and co-hosts), and up to 3 groups. Groups will be located at different parts of the Mountaineers facility (indoors and outdoors) and will not mingle during the scheduled practice session. Masks/buffs are required and standard social distancing protocols will be followed unless impractical for a practice scenario. We are required to leave doors open for indoor practice sessions, so please bring plenty of warm layers.

What to bring: Your personal canyoning equipment, mask/buff, jacket (the doors will be open), lunch/snacks for you or to share. Extra canyoning equipment from the Mountaineers will be available to loan out for the day. Bonus points if you wear something Thanksgiving-themed!

Skills Stations: Ascending, conversions, passing knots, releasable rigging, traverse lines, and more

Interested in helping us? We’re looking for 2-3 volunteers to be co-hosts and help us set up stations in advance, help with sign-ins, and help assist in skills demonstrations and general safety. Message Tiffanie or Jake and let us know if you’re interested.

What’s happening afterwards? Happy hour, of course. Tentative location: Magnuson Brewery.
