This three hours classroom session is part of the 2025 Seattle Sea Kayaking Basic Course

This session is to introduce students to the program, each other, and at least some of the instructor leader group.  It will cover equipment and course expectations, as well as introduce fundamentals that will be built upon in the on-water weekend session and salt water paddle.  And its a chance to ask questions!

In the session you will be introduced to the following kayaking fundamentals and instructors who can provide additional information: 

  • Equipment including kayaks, paddles, clothing, and minimum gear for safe trips
  • Cold water environments, hypothermia and survival
  • Sea conditions including weather, waves, tides and currents
  • Basic navigation, trip planning and seamanship
  • Safety, followership and participation.

Please come early, check in and find your table.  Door open at 6:00 PM. Here is the schedule for the classroom session

Class session will start promptly at 6:30 PM  in Cascade Room (A&B)
