This hike was led as a SUNRISE hike last year. A few of us started the hike at 5am with our head lamps and hiked up to the 2nd ledge *in the rain.* We then fired up a stove for some hot tea and cocoa while enjoying a very misty and magical dawn.
We won't start as early this year but the aim is still to enjoy some of that early morning freshness (as well as solitude) on this otherwise very popular hike.
We will meet at 6:30am, do a short introduction and then power-hike up the 2-mile-1200ft elevation gain to the middle ledge. We will take a longer break, enjoy some hot coffee/tea/cocoa (provided by leaders), before continuing on a bit further to reach 3,000' and then turn around.
Please be sure to have a cup for some hot beverages in addition to the 10 essentials.
