This hike is in Beacon Rock State Park on the WA side of the Columbia River and is well placed for a good hike before heading home after Columbia Gorge Campout Weekend.
The hike will start at the Equestrian Camp trailhead. We'll hike the Equestrian Trail up to the junction with the Hardy Ridge Trail, which we then take and ascend to the ridge top. Once we’ve gained the ridge, we’ll hike the 0.75 mile out to Phlox Point which is the summit. After we’ve rested and enjoyed the views, we’ll return to the Hardy Ridge Trail, and then descend down the other side of the ridge. We’ll re-join the Equestrian Trail to return to the trailhead. I’m expecting the hike to take 5 hours including breaks.
Will co-ordinate a departure time from the Columbia Gorge Campout. We'll meet at the Equestrian Camp trailhead in Beacon Rock State Park which is off Highway 14 on the WA side of the Columbia River.
