Family Backpacking Skills - Online Classroom

This online class helps experienced and inexperienced backpacking parents to prepare their children for successful backpacking. It can be paired with the half day family backpacking clinic on June 5 and is a compliment to the adult backpacking lecture on May 25 offered by the Olympia Hiking Committee.

  • For Beginners (Getting Started Series)

7-8:30 on Zoom.  Zoom link will be sent to registrants the morning of the event.

This is intended primarily for adults who want to learn more about gear for kids and how to modify backpacking trips to make them successful with kids.

Kids and adults are encouraged to sign up for the half day experiential Family Backpacking Workshop on June 5.

It does not cover all the basics of backpacking but would provide a good start for inexperienced backpackers.  Those with adult experience at backpacking will find this helpful for figuring out how to modify gear and expectations when expeditioning with children.
