Wilderness First Aid (WFA)

Wilderness First Aid (WFA) hybrid class will have approximately 8 hours of digitally formatted independent instruction, then 8 hours on Saturday with hands on instruction and evaluation, including from 3 to 5 outdoor scenarios. Olympia Scrambling and Climbing students given first priority. Olympia Activity Trip Leaders with 2 or more trip leads in the last 12 months are offered the course no charge, Leader permission only.

Class consists of approximately 8 hours of self study and a hands on 8 to 5 session on Saturday March 29. There will be no refunds available for any students dropping the class after the issuance of the access codes for the remote study.  All remote study must be completed the day before you will be allowed to join the class on Saturday.

LEADER NOTES:Olympia trip leaders with 2 or more trip leads in the last 12 months  allowed to take the class No Charge.  You will receive access codes to your 8 hours of study material 2 weeks before the start of the course.  All self study material will have to be completed 24 hours before the start of Saturday's session.  A final on-line test will need to be completed with 80% proficiency to receive your WFA card.  We do not currently offer CPR with Rescue Breaths, but it is recommended you  update your CPR card (with rescue breaths) annually.

  • Computer or other device to access online course work.
  • on Saturday bring a full length sleeping pad,
  • day pack with 10 essentials,
  • plan clothing for several hours outdoors regardless of weather,
  • and a lunch.
