Outdoor Leadership Course - 2025

Outdoor Leadership Course

Outdoor Leadership

This course presents techniques useful to leading teams toward successful adventures in the back country. We also cover some basics of Mountaineers' website navigation and use to ease preparing and scheduling trips and activities.

This  course held at the Kitsap Program Center is intended for current and prospective leaders of Mountaineers trips and activities. We’ll address problems from scenarios based on actual trips – good and bad and the results of decisions made on the trips.  These thought-provoking discussions are a mix of the participants’ own experiences, scenarios, and the course text. This course is not activity-specific, and snowshoers, skiers, kayakers, hikers, climbers, sailors, scramblers, dancers, bikers, photographers are all encouraged to participate.

Course will consist of two seminars on weekday evenings. There will be reading required prior to each session - from FOTH, 10th edition and provided case studies.

No refunds will be given for cancellations after the registration deadline.

Both sessions are required for graduation.

We will offer a Zoom option for those that prefer a remote option, but encourage in-person attendance  at the Kitsap Program Center for a fuller experience.
