Mountaineers Monique Cherrier and Ken Garrison will share their experiences hiking select sections of the ‘Slovene mountain trail’. This trail (Slovenska Planinske Poti) is Europe's oldest transversal trail. It links Slovenia’s vertiginous mountain ranges: Pohorje, Julian Alps, Kamnik-Savinja Alps, and Karavanke, including Triglav—the country’s highest peak at 9,396 feet. Beginning in the alpine town of Maribor, the long-distance trail traces mountain ridges, peaks, and valleys, leading hikers through the Pannonian plains, across plateaus and hills, and eventually through rolling Mediterranean vineyards before ending in the coastal village of Ankaran. Slovenia is famous for it’s natural beauty, so join us and get inspired from sLOVEnia.
The presentation will begin promptly at 7PM and end at 8:30PM with time for Q&A at the end. The event will be held on zoom. An advance ticket will be required to receive the zoom link to join the presentation - you can get your ticket here!
You can attend with a free ticket, but we hope that you will purchase a $10 or $20 ticket which will help The Mountaineers Foothills and Seattle Branches continue to deliver their volunteer-led hiking and backpacking programs, including events like this one! We hope you will join us!
