March GoHike Pacing Hike: 2 to 4 miles, 0 to 750 feet of elevation gain - Sequalitchew Canyon & Dupont Bluff

This gentle trail brings us down to a beach with views of Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains. GoHike Pace Hikes are low-stress hikes to help you determine where you are in terms of gear, the pace (1.5 - 2 mph) and distance you can complete comfortably. These trips are designed to assist you in developing your goals for conditioning and hiking trips, so that you can determine what level of hikes and pace would be the best fit for you to sign up for - no pressure, no judgment!

Our goal for this pacing hike will be to ensure that everyone can meet the pace requirements for Go Hike and have a good time doing it. We will plan to do introductions and orientation at 9:00am, then hit the trail. My hike style is social and I encourage getting to know your fellow hikers. I am happy to stop for photos and plant identification! We will hike as a loose group (everyone remains within eyesight) at a pace of 1.5-2.0mph depending on how the group is feeling and will plan to stop for a quick snack break on the beach.

We will begin at the trailhead at Dupont Civic Center and follow the trail gently 1.5mi downhill to the railroad tunnels and onto the beach. After a snack break and time to enjoy the views, we'll follow the trail back uphill to the parking lot. The trail is gentle enough that poles will not be needed. We should finish in less than two hours.

Additional information about the hike can be found here: https://www.wta.org/go-hiking/hikes/dupont-sequalitchew-creek

Meet at the Dupont Civic Center parking lot at 8:45am. Participants should be geared up and ready to go by 9:00am. Bathrooms are available at the trailhead. No permit needed.
