June Hikes: 3.5 to 6 miles, 400 to 1,500 feet gain

Field trip: GoHike: Beginner Hiking Course

June Hikes: 3.5 to 6 miles, 400 to 1,500 feet gain - Cougar Mountain: Harvey Manning Trailhead

We will be hiking the Shangri-La Trail. There are abundant wildflowers along the way, plus the Fantastic Erratic glacier boulder, and some views of Tiger Mountain. This hike counts toward your monthly required GoHike course June trips.

  • *Varies*
  • Easy
  • Mileage: 3.5 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 650 ft
  • Pace: 1.5-2

We will make a few stops along the route for clothing adjustments and snacks. The only restrooms are at the trailhead.  There are abundant wildflowers along the way, plus "Fantastic Erratic" glacier boulder, and some views of Tiger Mountain.

My walk style is social, nature-focused, and collaborative. We will take regular breaks and encourage going at a pace where you can still talk. The group will stay together and move at the pace of the slowest person. I encourage you to tune into the quiet of the forest and your fellow GoHikers. Please feel free to bring a charged phone and take pictures but refrain from taking or making phone calls while on the trail unless absolutely necessary.

Further details will be sent out in a Hello Hiker email on June 12. Registration closes on June 13.

Meet at the Cougar Mountain Harvey Manning Trailhead (formerly known as Anti-Aircraft Peak). No pass is required. Plan to arrive at the meeting point ready to begin at the posted start time. This means arriving by 8:45 for an introductory talk before we hit the trail at 10AM.
