This 2‑hour online seminar gives new hikers and urban walkers a clear, confidence‑building introduction to the equipment that keeps you safe, comfortable, and prepared.

Designed for beginners, this session breaks down the essentials in simple, practical terms. Participants will learn:

    • Footwear basics: choosing the right shoes or boots, socks, and blister prevention
    • Clothing systems: layering for changing weather, staying warm and dry, and avoiding common mistakes
    • Seasonal considerations: rain, heat, snow, and shoulder‑season challenges
    • Backpacks and fit: how to choose the right size and pack efficiently
    • The Ten Essentials and why they matter
    • Navigation tools: maps, apps, and what to carry even on well‑marked trails
    • Safety and emergency items: what’s necessary, what’s optional, and how to tailor your kit
    • Food, water, and hydration strategies
    • Budget‑friendly tips: where to save, where to invest, and how to build your kit over time

The seminar includes time for Q&A. By the end, new hikers and urban walkers will get a better understanding of the purpose of each piece of gear, how to choose items that fit their needs, and how to feel prepared for safe, enjoyable GoHike adventures.

This is an online seminar.  It starts at 6:30pm and ends at 8:30pm.
