We all know that a first aid kit is critical to outdoor adventuring...but if you're anything like us, this leads to more questions not less!
- What is essential for a frontcountry first aid kit?
- What additional things could I consider for backcountry trips?
- Do I change up what I carry depending upon the season?
- Should I customize depending upon the activity I am planning? (e.g. day hike vs. trail run vs. multi-day backpack vs. winter scramble vs. overnight climb vs. week-long paddle)
- My backpack only has so much space - how should I evaluate trade-offs in what to carry?
- How long do supplies last before they start to break down?

Our facilitator is Liane Lau. Liane is a registered nurse at Harborview Medical Center, in the Pediatric Trauma and Burn Intensive Care Unit. For fun, she plans big adventures both in her heart and calendar. She has visited almost all the U.S. states (mostly by bicycle), having biked across the U.S. twice. She has visited almost all the U.S. national parks. Next year, she won the lottery to stay at the Brooks Lodge in Katmai National Park, Alaska to see brown bears up close and personal. She has traveled to 30+ countries, trekking to Mt. Everest Base Camp 1, Nepal, a 5-day trek to Machu Pichu, Peru and a 30-day, 500-mile pilgrimage of the Camino de Santiago in Spain.
When not planning big adventures, she has local adventures, climbing Mt. Baker and Mt. Whitney, during winter, or swimming indoors with the Orcas team, or outdoors with the Cheese Puffs Club Team. She also volunteers with an affinity group providing outdoor experiences to marginalized communities. She recently led a 10-person group on their first backpacking trip to Olympic National Park.
Cancellation Policy: No refunds provided after registration.
Zoom meeting from 6:00-7:00 pm, with optional time up to 30 min for questions afterward. Link will be sent out 2-3 days before the clinic.
