My scramble for Sunday was cancelled due to weather and I’m hoping to find a few folks willing to suffer with me on a steep early-season conditioner.

Plan to carry a pack weight that feels moderately challenging but not heavy. Since it’s early in the season, aim for a percentage of the 35–40 lbs you’ll want to be comfortable with by late April—something light enough to keep a steady pace while still giving your legs work to do.

Our goal is to move at an average of about 1,000 ft of elevation gain per hour on the ascent. We’ll take the Mt. Si Old Trail, climb steadily through the forest, regroup at the junction with the main trail, and continue up to tag the overlook. From there, we’ll duck back down into the trees for a quick bio break before beginning our descent on the same route.

I encourage everyone to carry the same weight downhill. It’s one of the most effective ways to build the downhill strength and control you’ll rely on for long climbs later in the season.

We’ll stay together as a group for the entire outing.

If you’re currently in a climbing or scrambling course (any branch), if we’ve climbed or scrambled together before, or if you’ve been on one of my conditioners, you may sign up directly.
Everyone else—please use the “Request Leader Permission” button and share a quick note about your recent conditioning and what you’re hoping to work on.
