Intro to Frontcountry Trail Running - Fragrance Lake

Learn and practice trail running skills at a local frontcountry trail.

Place: Lost Lake Parking Lot
Time: 8:00am for introductions. On trail and running by 8:15am.

A Discover pass is required for parking.

There is an outhouse at this trailhead.

GETTING THERE

From Bellingham: Take Exit 250 off of I-5 south of Bellingham and turn west onto Old Fairhaven Parkway. Drive 0.1 mile, turn left onto 30th St and drive 1 mile (30th St becomes 32nd St).  Turn right onto Old Samish Rd, drive 0.6 mile, turn left onto Chuckanut Drive (SR-11) and drive 4.4 miles south to the  Lost Lake Trailhead (200 ft).

From Mount Vernon: Take Exit 231 off of I-5 north of Mount Vernon and drive 14.2 miles north on Chuckanut Drive (SR-11) to the Lost Lake Trailhead (200 ft).

We will be start out running on the Interurban Trail to the Fragrance Lake Trail junction, from there we will run up the Fragrance Lake Trail (be prepared for more power hiking than running) to Fragrance Lake and doing a loop around the lake, then stopping at the lake near where we started our loop for a quick breather. After our short stop we will continue back down the Fragrance Lake trail retracing our route back to the Lost Lake Trailhead and our cars.

  • Trail running shoes
  • A runner's vest or small day pack
