Wilderness First Aid Courses - Everett - 2021

First Aid Course

Wilderness First Aid (WFA) - Everett

Everett Wilderness First Aid (WFA)

This is a Wilderness First Aid (WFA) course taught by Remote Medical Training (RMT), a leader in wilderness medicine training and education. As long as we are under restrictions on gathering size due to COVID-19, this WFA course will be offered as a hybrid online/in-person, ~16 hour course designed to provide elementary skills in remote care. Based on recommendations from the Wilderness Medical Society and evidence-based research, the curriculum focuses on making sound decisions regarding patient evacuation, as well as skills for extended care. The Wilderness First Aid courses are hands-on, experiential format providing students with the skills and confidence for making remote medical care decisions. WFA is ideal for climbers, scramblers and other outdoor recreation enthusiasts who either work or play away from definitive medical facilities and support.

The Wilderness First Aid course consists of two parts. To finish the course and receive credit, participants must complete both of the following in the order they are presented below:

  1.  WFA Online Learning - approximately 8 hours of virtual  learning consisting of two virtual lectures (6-9pm on weeknights) and two online modules to be completed at any time during the course week.
  2. WFA Hands-On Training -  a hands-on practical session held outdoors at the Mountaineers Seattle Program Center in Magnuson Park on Saturday or Sunday from 8am to 5pm. We will be outside for the *entirety* of the hands-on training day, but please plan to follow social distancing/PPE protocols, as well. You will be required to follow the Mountaineers' COVID protocols.

Contact the course leader if you meet these requirements. You will have to provide proof of your certification and/or experience and may still be required to complete the Scenarios portion of the class to receive credit.
