With all the ice-capped peaks and lush valleys in Washington state, it's natural to stay within state lines to hike, camp and climb. While the lands and waters of the Pacific Northwest are indeed bountiful and beautiful, Glacier National Park will stun even the most experienced backcountry traveler.
Last summer Mountaineers Books' Director of Development and Communications, Lace Thornberg, decided to take the trip to Glacier and it changed the way she looked at the outdoors. She was enthralled by the mountain scenery and sheer abundance of mammals, waterfalls and wildflowers. This is why it meant so much to her to help with the final stages of Crown of the Continent: The Wildest Rockies.
You too will be astonished as world-renowned wildlife biologist Douglas H. Chadwick and debut photographer Steven Gnam take you on an exploration of the wonders of a very special public lands treasure in the northern Rocky Mountains in the region called Crown of the Continent.
From tracking wolverines to being tracked by cougars, Chadwick and Gnam will share incredible images and stories from the creation of their new book, a tool that conservation groups are using to rally public support for these wildlands. Their multi-media presentation will explore the surprising connections between culture, history, communities and the great outdoors in one of the world’s most majestic regions.
Brought to you by Braided River, the conservation imprint of Mountaineers Books.
