Spring is a busy season at The Mountaineers. The majority of our courses are underway and summer camp is right around the corner. Lengthening days pull us outside and the rising snow line tempts us deeper into the alpine. Behind the scenes, we’re also setting the stage for a new budget year, measuring our mission impact, and exploring ways to strengthen our community and protect outdoor spaces in the months and years to come.

Charitable gifts support roughly 17% of our annual budget. This support allows us to deliver on our mission and is dependent on the generosity of Mountaineers members, volunteers, donors, and other allies like you.

Why do we fundraise at The Mountaineers?

As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, our mission is to enrich the community by helping people explore, conserve, learn about, and enjoy the lands and waters of the Pacific Northwest and beyond. Earned revenue like course fees, book sales, or lodge stays cover 83% of our work, so when our mission compels us to do more, we’re already most of the way there!

Donations accomplish what can’t be done with earned revenue alone. Donations improve accessibility through scholarships, grow our youth programs, bolster volunteer leadership development, provide conservation education, increase advocacy for our public lands, enable the independent publishing of mission-driven resources, and so much more

When I first started with The Mountaineers, I didn’t have much extra money, so the affordable courses enabled me to pursue a passion…. Now that I have more resources, I want to pass along my support to the organization so others can enjoy the outdoors and climbing.

It's important for me to give to an organization that is committed to building a community where everyone feels belonging.

Mountaineers members, donors, volunteers, and other allies give back in many ways. Over the next few weeks, we will be highlighting the unique role philanthropy plays in supporting our shared values, investing in our community, and protecting the outdoor experience for generations to come.

Donating is a small way I can help support The Mountaineers to continue to be special and protect the outdoor experience.

Long retired, I realize how important it is to encourage young people to engage with nature so they will be inspired to protect it in whatever ways they can. The Mountaineers long history of encouraging people - of all ages - to appreciate, enjoy, and conserve our beautiful region makes it a natural place for my husband and me to donate.

One way you can give back is by elevating your Mountaineers membership to Ridgeline or Peak Society. Your annual donations of $500 and above will renew your Mountaineers family membership and support our mission and community. Make a gift today, and we’ll follow up with your membership and donor badge!
