Thank you! $48,454 raised for outdoor access

We’re celebrating today because together we raised more than $48,454 during our spring fundraising drive! With the help of 275 Mountaineers members, donors, and volunteers who made donations of all sizes, we exceeded our spring goal of $40,000 by 21 percent!

The Mountaineers community takes our mission to the next level by giving back. Donations to our annual fund help us go beyond fun and adventure to make the outdoors more accessible, to equip people to be safe and responsible users, and to conserve our natural world for future generations. We adventure with purpose.

The money we raise together impacts all of our mission priorities and builds a more inclusive and sustainable outdoor community. Donations provide need-based scholarships for youth and adults. They protect forests, parks, and waterways through conservation and advocacy. Donations invest in volunteer leadership training and create opportunities for adventure programming for young people. They enable Mountaineers Books to champion emerging authors and turn readers into advocates for our favorite places through independent, nonprofit publishing. Charitable gifts also provide access to gear for groups and families.

Our Spring Fundraising Campaign By The Numbers

  • $23,946 raised through GiveBIG helped to kick off our month of fundraising. This includes a $10,000 match pool that was unlocked when 100 people made a GiveBIG donation of $25 or more.
  • 275 people made donations of all sizes during the month of May. Of those people, 87 were making their first-ever gift to support the mission of The Mountaineers.
  • At least 30 donors submitted for their gift to be matched by their employer this month, netting an estimated $8,700 more toward our mission. If you have recently donated to (or volunteered with) The Mountaineers, check with your employer to see if they have a matching gift program.
  • An estimated 115 members and readers chipped in to our annual fund by including an at-the-cart donation when paying for their annual dues or new Mountaineers Books titles. They invested in transformative outdoor experiences for others while planning their own adventure!

With the success of our spring fundraising drive, we are more than 90% of the way toward our goal of raising $1.45M before our fiscal year closes in September. Thanks to the generosity of our community, more people will be able to enjoy and steward our natural world through books and programs in 2022 and beyond!

As a 501(c)3 organization, gifts made to The Mountaineers are 100% tax-deductible. The Mountaineers, Tax ID 27-3009280, is located at 7700 Sand Point Way NE, Seattle, WA 98115.
