Ski Instructors Needed for Winter Season at Meany Lodge

Our Meany Lodge ski instructor team is looking for new instructors of varying experience levels for the 2017-18 season. This volunteer gig comes with free lodging, PSIA training, and a community you'll have for life.

Meany Lodge is home to the fastest, highest, legally-operated rope tow in the United States. We've been teaching people how to ski at Stampede Pass for nearly a century (and carving untracked pow at the same time). We're looking for more skiers and boarders to teach lessons this year.

Who can teach?

You need not have previous instruction experience to volunteer to teach lessons at Meany Lodge.

You need to:

  • Be able to make parallel turns on most slopes
  • Be a Mountaineers member
  • Own a ski or snowboard, and a helmet is highly advised (we have lots of tree skiing!)

Why you should volunteer!

This may be a volunteer gig but it comes with perks:

  • all instructors receive complimentary meals and lodging for the weekends they are instructing
  • we will provide PSIA training at no charge

Depending on your skill and confidence level, you will be teaching students, alone or with a partner, from age 5 to age 80. Your first year with us you will most likely teach at the 'beginner' to 'upper blue run' level.

You'll need to commit to:

  • 2 Training weekends during the first two weekends of December @ Stevens Pass
  • 4 alternating weekends*
    • Series A:  Jan 6-7,  20-21,  Feb 2-3, Mar 3-4 (skip Feb 17-18)
    • Series B:  Jan 13-14, 26-27, Feb 10-11, 24-25
  • Buying a permit for Crystal Spring Sno-Park

*if you cannot make these specific dates work, we are flexible. We prefer you pick a series, even every Sunday if you cannot do the whole weekend, but ultimately your schedule will depend on the number of students.
