10 ESSENTIAL QUESTIONS:

WHAT FIRST BROUGHT YOU TO THE MOUNTAINEERS?

I joined The Mountaineers pretty soon after moving to Washington from Minnesota. I was trying to find a community that would help me grow in my relationship to the outdoors and I learned about The Mountaineers history and culture and knew this was the place for me.

WHY DO YOU LIKE GETTING OUTSIDE WITH US?

The community I've met through The Mountaineers is incredible. There is such a diverse group in every activity and class, leading to interesting conversations, new connections, and environments that make me feel comfortable. The dedication of The Mountaineers community to maintaining programming, stewardship, and the community also speaks volumes to the impact that this group has on each other. I've learned new skills that I never thought possible, opening up a new world of outdoor opportunities and giving me great people to explore them with!

WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE MOUNTAINEERS MEMORY?

I recently finished the Basic Alpine Climbing course with the Everett Branch. After Snow II, a group of us from the course were bonding over how elated, proud, and accomplished, as well as just so incredibly lucky, to have learned all the skills, conditioned together for so long, and experience a crevasse. Now we've all summited a peak :)

WHO/WHAT INSPIRES YOU?

Every time I see a rocky, snow/glacier covered peak in the distance, I feel an overwhelming sense of joy that I am out in the world experiencing it. Makes me want to just keep going back for day hikes, runs, walks, and climbs.

WHAT DOES ADVENTURE MEAN TO YOU?

Adventure, to me, is that feeling of anticipation, excitement, and some giddy nervousness that happens when I am open to a new experience. Adventure is everywhere if you are open to receiving and embracing new thing!
