10 ESSENTIAL QUESTIONS:

HOW DID YOU GET INVOLVED WITH THE MOUNTAINEERS?

Ironically it was getting lost on a ski trip with my husband that lead us to The Mountaineers. I wasn't carrying the Ten Essentials and it could have been a disaster! Luckily, he's a natural mountaineer and located me, but the moon was out by then. My Dad and others all gave me a whistle after that, ha ha!

WHAT MOTIVATES YOU TO GET OUTSIDE WITH US?

I love any outdoor recreation and appreciate seeing new places through The Mountaineers, along with meeting new like-minded folks. It's a great way to get out and hike or snowshoe by sharing rides and routes.

WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE MOUNTAINEERS MEMORY?

Oh, there are many, but mostly the snow adventures or a scrambling outing that I was able to complete (I have drop off fear) or fun, long, inspiring hikes with lots of laughter.

WHO/WHAT INSPIRES YOU?

The natural world is inspiring to me. Everything about being outside (even gardening) is wonderful to me.

As a donor and volunteer-supported organization, The Mountaineers is based on community support. How have you paid it forward, or how have you benefited from someone else paying it forward? (This could include receiving a scholarship, donating, being a leader, etc.)

I've been an assistant leader on some hikes over the years, and try to do a few stewardship activities each year.  The Mountaineers is a wonderful organization and I share my positive experiences with anyone I chat with on the trails. I wish I found it earlier in my life! The past few years I've been getting our grandson on the trails, hiking and camping in the Olympics, or biking the Western Chehalis trail. He's 10. It's fabulous!

WHAT DOES ADVENTURE MEAN TO YOU?

Inspiring, spectacular, something new!

LIGHTNING ROUND!

Sunrise or sunset? Sunset
Smile or game face? Smile
What's your 11th Essential? Sense of humor & play
What’s your happy place? The outdoors, in any capacity
Post-adventure meal of choice? Salmon burger & a beer
If you could be a rockstar at any outdoor activity overnight, what would it be? Skiing
