10 Essential Questions:
What first brought you to The Mountaineers?
Over the summer I heard about The Mountaineers climbing courses and I wanted to learn more. I expected to mostly learn technical skills, but after joining some of the courses and volunteering, I realized it's really all about the community.
Why do you like getting outside with us?
I love outdoor recreation, but it's so much better as part of a team. What I love about The Mountaineers is that it's not just about finding people to join in on your next adventure, it's also full of volunteers willing to teach you the skills for your next adventure! Everyone I've met so far has been friendly and helpful and I love the attitude towards carpooling.
What's your favorite Mountaineers memory?
The first Mountaineers activity I joined was a summer work party at Meany Lodge. The volunteering was rewarding and contributing to the community really helped me feel like I was a part of it. After some communal meals and an overnight in the lodge, it was a great weekend introduction to the organization.
Who/What inspires you?
I really hope to be active for a long time and I'm inspired by experienced/older climbers who are still getting at it.
What does adventure mean to you?
Adventure means not knowing exactly where you're going to set up camp, but also knowing that wherever you end up sleeping will be a beautiful place.
Lightning round
Sunset or sunrise? Sunrise
Smile or game face? Game face
What's your 11th Essential? Swedish Fish. I have yet to meet someone who doesn't like them, especially while in the mountains :)
What's your happy place? Sierra Nevada portion of the PCT. I would love tackle the Sierra High Route next summer.
If you could be a rockstar at any outdoor activity overnight, what would it be? Skiing
